Enjoy your Memorial Day…
This statement happened a few nights ago at the dinner table between Lilah and myself:
Lilah : “Daddy, when you ask me if I need help, I’ll say ‘Do I look like I need help?’”
Daddy (trying not to choke on dinner): “You are too young to be that funny!”

On our way to dinner to see one of my family favorite mothers (and father’s) – the Reich’s!

Testing first post from my Mighty Incredible Boig (aka Droid Incredible) with a photo of Lilah taken today.
Happy three days after Thanksgiving!
If you know us Boigs at all (and if you are reading this blog I hope you do) you know that in one combination or another we have spent the last 12 Thanksgivings – minus one for going to Jason’s HS reunion in NJ – with one combination or another of the Reich’s. This year was no exception and we even got to travel a good portion of the way across the United States to do it. Yes…the Boigs have gone to Texas and back.*
The kids were as good on the plane as any children ripped out of bed, thrown into the car, and changed in the airport parking lot could be. Well actually they thankfully were a lot BETTER than they could be in that situation. Sammy slept about half the trip there and the whole trip back. Lilah read, read, colored, read and refused to watch the DVD player we brought even though I offered it to her a few times. (I wonder if that means we are doing something wrong or right
).
We arrived in Texas a half hour early and after trying to find something “TexMex” to eat we settled for Pizza Hut and a yoghurt parfait while waiting for the Reich’s to come and get us at the airport. After eat those as fast as we could, we then found ourselves heading to what was one of many many meals from Sonic (yes I know we have Sonic here too, but it is MUCH close to home base there).
What everyone asked when we called was “How were Lilah and Alexander when they first saw each other???” since also, if you know us at all, they are destined to be married (or at least good friends) as planned by their parents. Well….the answer took some time as Alexander was alseep when they picked us up, and just as he was waking up Lilah fell asleep….so a few hours later they were very excited!
After touring the new (and much larger with and amazing back yard) La Casa Reich we headed off to a real Texas rodeo and proceeded to eat and cheer for animal insanity like everyone else there. If you have seen the size of one of those bulls (photos below) you would know everything really is bigger in Texas.
Home super late that night we all crashed and in Part 2: The Forth Worth Zoo you will hear about our next adventure! You can also hear how we failed on our one big mission – to get Lilah a real cowboy hat.
*For full disclose the two adult Boigs went to Texas back nine years ago or so as well but that was before we were “Mighty Mighty Boigs” (and before we were married even).
I bet you thought we forgot to take Sammy’s five month photos with THE bear. Well before you all go off accusing us of second child syndrome here they are … along with a comparison of Lilah at the same age. When we went back into the blog to find Lilah’s photos we were surprised to find out she liked to grab her feet at this age as much as he did – we had totally forgotten! Thank you blog.
PS. Seems Sammy likes banana much more than avocado, but more on that another day.
For cute photos and an actual update.
The past few weeks have been as fun as the Fall season gets. Sammy has been growing like crazy and has had his first foray into the wonderful world of actual food. He loves oatmeal, but the jury is still out on his avocado tastebuds. It’s been fun not only to watch him grow and become more aware of his surroundings, but also interacting more with Lilah as the two of them are already fast friends.
Lilah is loving school and so excited everytime we drive up to it. We got her first “report card’ and they said she “Loves the art table and get’s a lot of sensory expereince from it” which I take to mean she loves to cover herself in paint – a true fact!
I had a great 35th (woooooo) birthday pumpkin picking with the kids and the Dailey’s in the morning, then trick r treating in the early evening. The kids looked darn cute if I do say so myself. So this is what it is like to be in the next “demographic” of age.
Coming up we have some packed, but fun weekend capping off at the end of the month with a Thanksgiving week trip to …. you guessed it Dallas! Where we plan to visit the Reiches at their fairtale new house, be the first people from Jersey to ever attend a rodeo and explain to Lilah why she can not vote for the purple knight at Medieval Times, It will also be Sammy’s first time on a plan – so I am sure quite an experience there.
So on to what you are really interested in…
With Lilah passed out early from an early school Halloween party (with candy no less!) It’s time to post some photos.
They have the greatest faces don’t they?
